Fabric Postcards ~ Q is for ...

Another letter to work on for the alphabet swap is Q.  I am using quotes ad quilt blocks for my postcards,  Here are the postcards I received from other members of Art4Mail.

Tahoe 9 Patch Blocks

Last night I was experimenting with the Tahoe blocks using 4 patches.  This set off a light bulb in my head.  I have been in a 9 patch bock swap but not all blocks measure correctly.  Some blocks are either 6" or 6.25" on one side with the other side normally the 6.5" the blocks are supposed to be so I decided to cut them to 5.5" on one side and make blocks using them.  After I made the blocks I thought I probably shouldn't have cut them down but cut the other piece down a little.

Tahoe 4 Patch Blocks

One of Sunshine Quilers, my online quilting guild decided to make a Tahoe block using a 4 patch blocks with squares so she scaled down her blocks.  When I saw her top I really liked it but thought why not use rectangles to make to make the 4 patch since I already have so many pieces cut out for blocks.  I did my math and four 3" by 3'5" cut pieces makes the rectangle I need to work with my precut fabrics.  Than I made up some sample blocks to see how I liked them made up.

Fabric Postcards ~ O is for ....Owls

Busy making fabric postcards for swapping the past few weeks between bouts of getting my quilt tops quilted and bound ready to be donated.  Here are the cards I received and it was a surprise that both cards featured and owl theme.  My postcards featured an orange theme.

Nummy Island

 Another great place to visit in the winter is the free bridge along Nummy Island.  It is usually good for Horned Grebe's and Red-throated Loons with looks across the marsh of American Oystercatchers. There were a group of 7 AM's that I got good looks at while at the bridge.
