2020 will long be remembered due to the pandemic with the precautions and drastic changes made in the lives of everyone in the world. So many people have died and many, many others still very sick. Who knows when we will be able to move about freely again. My donation quilts went down in number because the places I could donate them to have gone away. Most of my quilts after March were donated in my home area through my local quilt guild to the Division of Youth & Family Services.
As a special donation project from mid-November through mid-December, 2019 I made Christmas stockings for some of the survivors of the Paradise, CA fires. I was able to use my Christmas stash and them embroidered the names on each stocking. It was a last minute decision but great for me and good for them. I made for children and their parents if desired. A total of about 22 Christmas stockings were made.
When the calendar starts to move toward the beginning of the holiday season, I put away my piecing and quilting of donation quilts for the year. I have pieced a total of 36 quilt tops. 15 tops went to Quilts of Valor. I also pieced and quilted 21 quilts for other donations, with most of those still going to Wrap-A-Smile though some were donated to the children in the Camp Fire area of Paradise, CA. Though I have no idea of how horrible it must feel to lose everything you own to a fire I have tried to do my small part to assist them in recovery by working with Books for Butte and other Campfire groups on FB.
