Quilts of Valor

Earlier in the month I made 4 tops for the veterans with Quilts of Valor. Here's one of the tops. Not always what I'd chose for fabric, the tops are made from kits that are put together ahead of the sewing days.  This is donation quilt #24 for 2019.

Beth's Patch ~ Moth Eggs in the Hackberry

I found this collection of eggs on the underside of a hackberry leaf.  I was hoping that they'd be either Tawny or Hackberry Emperor butterfly eggs.  I watched them daily and on the 5th day they turned grayish and by evening they had all hatched.  I think they were probably some type of moth but all of the eggs have disappeared.  I think they all all been eaten by something as there are nowhere to be found.

Beth's Patch ~ Lifecycle of the American Snout Butterfly

Four American Snout butterflies in the yard today

Of of the American Snout buterflies laying eggs on the hackberry tree.

American Snout eggs are all over the plant.  Here's a close-up of one of the eggs.

I found a AS caterpillar so eggs must have been laid last week also

Here's a more close-up of the AS caterpillar.  It's so tiny that even with my macro lens and extension tubes it's hard to get decent pictures.

Beth's Patch ~ Daylilies

A few years after we moved here I planted some daylilies to fill in parts of the yard.  many are still going strong even after more than 20 -25 years.  Of course, other than the Stella Dora daylily I can't remember any of their names.
