My Yard ~ Pileated Woodpecker

This Pileated Woodpecker visited my yard today.  I am always happy to have them visit though wouldn't want them to stay.  This species of bird makes very large holes in which to nest.

 

My Yard ~ Nesting White-breasted Nuthatch

This is the first year I have seen nesting White breasted Nuthatches in my yard.  It's been fun to watch the parents bringing sunflower chips to the birds in the tree cavity many times a day.  After about a month the babies fledge and it's fun watching them learn how to fly.

There have been a few male Ruby-throated Hummingbirds coming through my yard but I haven't seen any females yet
