My Yard ~ Carolina Mantis
Today, I found a Carolina Mantis in my yard in a container planted with lantana. This mantis is a native mantis and can be found mainly in North and South Carolina, though these days it can often be found throughout the USA. It's beneficial to have in your yard and gardens as it eats many garden pests that would otherwise destroy your flowers

Some Overdyeing & Working on a Quilt Top
Lattice charm quilt with fabrics I dyed. It's a current work in progress. |
Started with the gold fabric, scrunched one fabric into a cup and pleated the other. Used Chino dye on both of them. Love the results! |
A light, light green base, overdyed a darker green and then overdyed with chino with pleats. Love the results! |
2 more overdyed fabrics |
All these fabrics started with a base color and needed more "something." Shibori done by wrapping the base fabric on the diagonal using string and scrunching it all to the base of the pole. |

Jewel Box Quilt Top
Ealier this year I began to piece together my Jewel Block quilt top using both blocks I swapped and ones I made since that time. My online dyeing group are the ladies that I swapped blocks with and many have already finished their quilts. My top is now pieced after getting some opinions as to inner border colors and the overall layout of the blocks. I love how it turned out as one of my worries was it would look too dark due to the black but that's so not true. Here's the quilt out in the yard by my gardens. The top will be quilted by a friend who does gorgeous long arm quilting.

August Fabric Postcard Display
As I have said before, I love making fabric postcards. I made one of the cards (bottom right) and the rest are from different swaps I have been in over the years. These postcards are called "Under the Sea."
