We had hoped to see the Limpkin that's been at Middle Creek but we missed it.  I have seen them in FL though for many year it was my nemesis bird.

 Lots of male & female Ruby-throated Hummingbirds around the yard. Most often they feed at the flowers and not the feeder.

 It's getting close to the time where all of the Ruby-throated hummingbirds will have migrated south until next summer. It's a bittersweet time with Fall here and winter soon to follow.  Indeed, I still see a hummingbird every day but usually just a short glimpse once or twice a day.  Here are a few pictures from the past few days including today.

 The Ruby-throated hummingbirds have been plentiful this summer.  I have seen 5 at a time with some feeding on the native flowers and some fighting over the nectar.  They are always fun to watch.  Here are some pictures from this summer.

Beth's Patch ~ Spring Migration ~ Ruby-throated Hummingbirds

Just after a late lunch today, there were 3 Ruby-throated hummingbirds on the feeders - one male was feeding when a second stopped by to chase him off the feeder. The third hummer, I believe to be a female had no coloring on the throat that I saw. I have been seeing a male every day for the past week.

I love that the end of August, all of September and into October, we have Ruby-throated Hummingbirds buzzing around the yard.  We see anywhere from 3 to 6 of them daily. Sometimes, they will sit quietly together but most of the time they are chasing each other around the yard and no one gets to necter on the flowers or at the feeders.

We've been seeing Ruby-throated Hummingbirds for several months now usually 2-3 at a time as they fight to keep other RTH from their territory.  They really are fun to watch.  Here's a few pictures of them.
