Christmas Fabric Postcards

 Since I set up my embroidery machine I have been having fun making fabric embroidered postcards and postcards that are made from fabric, ribbon and have free motion quilting on them.  Here's a display of the postcards.

Our challenge was to spell out J O Y using our fabric postcards so that they could be set together like a triptych to be displayed.  The cards had to be done as a portrait view.  Above is the set of postcards I received.  I just love them.  Below is my set of 3 cards spelling out JOY that I mailed to Vicky in Canada.

Christmas Fabric Postcards

I have belonged to several online groups over the years where we swap small art postcards that have themes.  My biggest collection of these are the Christmas postcards.  This year I thought I would get them out to display.  My original idea was to hang a string and clip the postcards to it with tiny wooden clothespins.  Then I realized  that the perfect place to display them is in the sunroom where Jenny & I spend most of our time.  She has a miniature tree we added to the display.  I love how they look and the sun won't hurt them because in the winter the room doesn't get very much sun.

Fabric Postcards

For several years I have been making fabric postcards that are sent through the mail to other fiber artists.  Some of us belong to a Yahoo group Postcard Pizzazz that arranges the swaps.  It's fun to make the postcards and you get to use your imagination when making them.  The time investment is much less then making a wallhanging or quilt.  It is always fun to receive one in the mail.  Here are some of the postcards I have made for the Christmas Swap.
