Shorebird Migration is in full swing and along the Delaware Bay in front of the house

I see Royal Terns almost every day fishing, Semipalmated Sandpipers are feeding in the shallows along with Semipalmated Plovers and Sanderlings.

Kayaking ~ Cape Island Creek with Brooke and Kate

It's been quite a while since I have kayaked, probably since fall 2012 so when my company wanted to kayak I was ready to go.  The creek in springtime has migrating birds that feed on the mudflats along the creek especially seen at low tide.  Today was no exception with the birds in their breeding plumage and Ospreys flying overhead.

Avalon Jetty ~ A Time for Reflection

I needed time away from everything to reflect on life today.  It seems that life sometimes  is just like being on a treadmill and goes faster and faster with time slipping away before your eyes.  Today's weather forecast was good for a visit to the jetty to sit, relax and watch nature.  Birds seen were Common Loons, Long-tailed Ducks, Greater Scaup, Black, White and Surf Scoters and 6 Semipalmated Plovers. These were a surprise. Not seen were Purple Sandpipers and Ruddy Turnstones that are normally there.
