Today was the first hike of our week and we chose to hike the Indian Canyons. They were closed last year due to flooding that washed the road out. The canyons were incredible though since we were there late morning we didn't see any birds besides hummingbirds feeding on a feeder at the top of the canyon. It was 100+ degrees along the path.

This morning's walk was really exciting for me. I took a long walk around an undiscovered area of the golf course and as I was getting ready to return back to our rooms I saw a flash of a bright red bird. When I got my bins on the bird it was a male Vermilion Flycatcher. Oh, what a gorgeous bird!
The grounds at Club Intrawest are gorgeous. They do an super job on their landscaping and it is well maintained. There are flowering plants everywhere which includes many different species of Lantana which is a favorite of mine and by the looks of it also a favorite of the hummingbirds. Greeting us this afternoon was a Greater Roadrunner which is a cool looking bird. |

Jenny & I were excited to see the development of a several areas of Monarchs and one small Monarch Butterfly roost in my Cherry tree. We counted 22 in the main area. We also had several mating couples plus some Monarchs Caterpillars feeding on both Tropical and Common Milkweed.
