I have been enjoying the birds in my backyard as I look forward to going to Magee Marsh for migrating warblers & others birds in OH. I am also getting ready to plant more native plants along with some favorite annuals in my yard as I hope for a great 2025 butterfly season.

Today, was a fun day in the yard with returning White-throated & Song Sparrows and Dark-eyed Junco's. There was also a new yard bird - Hermit Thrush which is yard bird #62.
Also, this month we've had 2 other new yard birds. First, several Yellow-rumped Warbler (#61) stopped by with lots of other birds last Friday plus on Sunday there was a Northern Harrier (#60) flyover.

Some unexpected snow arrived and surprised me this mroning when I got up. We had 3" when I shoveled a path to the area where I hang the feeders on the deck. Over the next 2 hrs we received another 1-2" of snow. The birds were really busy at the feeders.

It's been brutally cold this week all accross the country. It started snowing during the night and has snowed all day. In my area, it's been between 14 and 18 F for the lows, and might get to the mid 20's for a high temperature. Here's some birds coming into the feeders to get some food. I kept the feeders full as there were 22 - 24 species of birds coming in to feed all day long. There were birds that never come to the feeders, use them, and an Eastern Towhee came up on the porch looking for some seed I'd scattered which they never do.
