Cape May Point State Park ~ Butterflies & Moths

On Tuesday, I met up with the North Jersey Butterfly Club along with 2 South Jersey butterfliers, Jack M & Teresa K.  It's so good to see everyone again.  Some of the NJ group had been to my yard one or more times prior to my selling the house and saw their lifer, Brazilian Skipper, in my yard.  I had to leave for an appt but came back for the afternoon which saw us taking a walk on the trails looking for butters and caterpillars alonh with other interesting bugs & birds we could fine.  It was a fun afternoon.  We split up at about 3PM and I went back  to walk the trails again.  My pictures are below with ID's underneath them.

White M Hairstreak

My Yard ~ White M Hairstreak ~ #41 Yard Species 2017

In 2013, I saw a White M Hairstreak here in the yard on my canna leaves but since then nary a sighting  Just now I saw a small butterfly on the rotten fruit but it was with 2 other butterflies so I couldn't ID with my bins.  Out, I went and to my great surprise, it was a White M Hairstreak on the rotten fruit.  These area a rarely seen butterfly here.

Hereford Lighthouse Gardens

Today, I visited the Hereford Lighthouse Gardens in North Wildwood.  Normally, I would have visited earlier in the year but life got in my way this year.  The gardens were not at their peak but I was actually more interested in looking at the butterflies and dragonflies this year.  It would be great to get a macro lens for my photography.
