Cape May, NJ Trip - Butterflies

 I had a super few days in Cape May last week. Here are some of the 15 species of butterflies I saw while there. I sure wish I'd seen more Monarch's but I saw really great numbers of Ocola's, Long-tailed and Fiery's to make up for the Monarch's.

My Yard ~ Swallowtails

 3 Swallowtail species in the past 2 days - 6/26/24 Pipevine Swallowtail - new yard butterfly species #38 (top images), First of year Black Swallowtail 6/25/24, and Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. Of course, last fall I passed along to another butterfly lover, the host plant for the Pipevine Swallowtail, Dutchman's Pipevine which I had in pots since about 2019 back in NJ and brought with me here to PA.

My Yard ~ Giant Swallowtail

 Wow, wow, Wow! I am excited! My eyes spied a worn Eastern Giant Swallowtail this afternoon while I was out working in the garden. I ran inside to get my camera. It's still here and is a female. I have rue, so it would be great if she's fertile and lays some eggs. New yard butterfly #36 and #31st species for 2023.

Wolf's Hollow County Park 18 species of butterflies seen and very little of the meadow walked. Not pictured are Cabbage Whites, Summer Azures, Eastern-tailed Blues, Sachem's and Zabulon Skippers. I see many return trips in my future for birds and butterflies.
