Nottingham County Park ~ Butterflies'

I drove to I drove to Nottingham County Park this afternoon. It's a great place to walk but I was interested in seeing if the Great Spangled Fritillary's were around yet. I saw 5 of them today. I saw a total of 8 species of butterflies including 2 Monarch's! It's a start, though very little is blooming yet. I, actually, only stayed around the parking lot and not for long as the bugs were out & biting. this afternoon. Wolf's Hollow County Park - Butterflies & Birds

I decided to go over to Wolf's Hollow to see how the butterflies were coming along.  I was hoping for a fair number of species but only found 2 species - Peck's & Least.  I did see 8 species of birds but one species was about 20 Cedar Waxwings feeding on  Serviceberries.  So much fun to watch! I also spotted a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird by a Tulip Poplar.

Atglen, PA ~ Wolf's Hollow County Park

At Wolf's Hollow in Atglen yesterday, I saw 14 species of butterflies. Here are images of some of them. Best butterflies were Ocola & Fiery, both southern strays. I can't find any other records of Ocola being seen there. It was sunny, low to mid 80's with winds 5-8 MPH. So nice to see after a week of drab, rainy weather.

Nottingham County Park ~ Birds, Butterflies and Other Bugs

Had a great afternoon visit to Nottingham County Park, Chester County, PA yesterday. There were 5 different Snowberry Clearwing Moths on the butterfly bush with lots of skippers.

There were numerous butterflies in the park including a Zebra Swallowtail that didn't sit still for pictures and some type of another swallowtail that was black and blew by me on one of the trails.
