Somers Point, NJ ~ Lunch with Great Friends

Wonderful friendships and great food. I had so much fun at lunch with so much laughter. That's 140+ years of friendship between all of us. Thanks for the good wishes in my new home. What is talked about at the Crab Trap stays at the Crab Trap.

Cape May Point, NJ ~ Horseshoe Crab

I saw a very early crab on the beach today where they come to lay their eggs in May.  She was making her way back to the ocean.  Sadly, There are no males around to fertilize her eggs.

Cape May Point ~ Red-throated Loons

Waiting for better weather to get better pictures of the Red-throated Loons but it's not happening. Some of them stage in Cape May Point at the end of winter and grow to good numbers before they go North for breeding season. There have been almost 500 RT Loons that have flown by since 4/1 with over 250 flying by yesterday. And today is another rainy, cloudy day.

Cove in Cape May ~ Sunset

Cape May Point ~ Sanderlings

There were 4 Sanderlings on the beach between Alexander Ave & Sunset Beach. When I first saw only 2 at a good distance I was hoping for Piping Plovers. Then, I thought maybe Semi-palmated Sandpipers but no fine streaking on the breast lead me to Sanderlings though very close they did look smaller than Sanderlings.

Cape May Point ~ Double-crested Cormorants

Though, you can always find some Double-crested Cormorants sitting on the cement ship at Sunset Beach, Double-crested Cormorants also had a great migration day on 4/1 with over 1400 counted at Spring Watch. Pictures taken from the Alexander Ave jetty at the Point.
