My life and leisure activities...
I have been making fabric postcards to exchange for years which lead me into making greeting cards for my friends. Most of the cards are machine embroidered but sometimes, I use smaller hand cross stitch pieces. The greeting cards below are a small sample of some of the cards I have made to be sent. I like to send to people who I think will appreciate the card. I try to make the cards 5" by 7" though some greeting cards are smaller sizes. I use the large hoop on my Bernina 200, stabilizing the fabric. After I remove the stabilizer, I, then, iron the embroidered piece to pellon 71 on the sticky side. At this point, I freemotion quilt the top of the card. I use a small zigzag stitch to secure the design to the accent color cardstock. I follow that by using cardstock cut to size and folded in half to make the actual card.
