The Little Blue Penguins live along Breaker Bay but sadly, I didn't get to see any here.  I did see them while out on a pelagic trip'

Two cyclones ~ Fehi and Gita hit the South Island of NZ since I arrived but I have been safe on the North Island.  Today, I climbed the hills up past the Tsunami Safe Location.  I am prepared in case one comes to Breaker Bay area of Wellington.

New Zealand Adventures ~ Tiritiri Matangi Island ~ Birds on the island

Red-headed Parrot

Tiritiri Matangi Island is a predator-free island where the birds of New Zealand don't have to fear that they will be caught and eaten.  The DOC has spent time ridding the island of all pests/predators and the birdlife has increased dramatically.  This includes Kiwi's that have been re-introduced on the island.
