In New Zealand they are building predator-free enclosures that cover large areas of there land.  The special fencing is built to keep out animal pests and non-native plants.  The build the fences and then eradication begins and the animals are trapped and disposed of humanely.  Once all of the pasts are gone which can be a long process over months and months bird life and other life is reintroduced to the sanctuary.  Today, we visited this one that is outside of Warkworth but there are a number of them including Somes Island which I have already visited and Tiritiri Matangi Island which we will be visiting on this trip.  Some animals have returned on their own once the predators were gone.  We saw quite a number of birds here.
