Total for 2018 for donation quilts was 35 tops. All pieced tops have been quilted by 2 other quilting angels for Wrap-A-Smile. At the end of the year I got involved in Quilts of Valor as I found out they met about a mile from my Home. Since I was only there a month before 2019 I only donated 2 tops already made and counted plus 2 more I pieced in December.
In 2017 my donation quilt production went down as I began to work more on quilts for my family, friends and myself. I made and quilted a total of 26 quilts for Wrap-A-Smile. For most donation quilts, I still am cutting and making kits of 6.5" cut squares and piecing 7 squares across by 9 squares down which gives you a finished quilt about 42" by 54", depending on how wide you make your seam allowances. Sometimes, I just make an alternating square quilt and sometimes I try to lay out a pattern. Some of the top quilts pictured here were made using a 10' finished square. Cut pieces were 7.5" squares, 3.5" squares and a rectangle cut 7.5" by 3.5". Since this only finishes to 40" by 50" I often add the extra side pieces of 3.5" squares and 7.5 by 3.5" rectangles.
It's been quite a while since I have made quilts for those I know and love. It feels good to work on more personal projects though I still do make lots of fabric postcards to swap.
