Snow Dyeing

Several years ago my friend, Judi Y started snow dyeing.  She taught a number of us how to do it and get good results.  She was published in an magazine.  She went onto using crushed ice instead of snow.  Then she went onto ice dyeing Mandelas which were just incredible.  Me, I hadn't done any snow dyeing for a few years until this week.  I do my work down in the basement.

living in CA, there is no snow for me to do snow dyeing BUT using ice would be wonderful!

I will have to research the method.

At PCMA, we've had swaps using rust-dyed fabric, sun painted / sun printed fabrics and other techniques. Always excited to learn and try new techniques for fabric postcards

Sue, There are ice dyeing techniques posted in blogs on the Net that feature using ice cubes instead of snow. I haven't tried it yet but I am planning to do so soon. I also love to try new things.

Love the use of colour in your snow dyeing. What quantity of fabric is in each piece? What type/brand of dye do you use? I think one of my embroidery friends has tried dyeing with ice. I am very impressed. Cheers Margaret B
