Great day in the garden. It's been so hot and humid for the past week and it's caused the garden to explode along with the butterflies. Had a mating pair of Monarch's finally, plus found 5 more small Monarch's caterpillars. I also found 2 Black Swallowtail Chrysalis and we have many of their caterpillars on curly parsley. I saw 19 species of butterflies in the yard today with 2 new species - Least Skipper and Tawny Emperor. The Tawny Emperor (left) was nectaring on rotten fruit on my front porch. We also had the first of year Red-spotted Purple Butterfly (below) also on the rotten fruit.
