Hi Beth, met you at Botanical gardens ...just a quick ID your White napped honey eater is infact a White Plumed Honeyeater.. hope you have a great trip around NZ

Randomly looking at Bird entries and saw your sightings in Cairns....going there in 2 weeks. Thanks for posting and looks like some nice pictures and life birds. Any must visit birding locations around Cairns?

Paul, Thanks so much for the correction on the ID. I really appreciate it. I wish I had seen more birds at Mount Annam but your suggestions really helped me. I know I'll have fun in New Zealand. Lots of new birds to see. I am over in Epping for the next few days. Beth

Hi Chuck, I'd say that staying in Cairns is the best advice to give. The esplanade at the waterfront has great shorebirds on the North end. Other than that I stayed in Trinity Beach with non-birders so walked early morning and some late afternoons. Have fun, Beth
