Two weeks ago the Sachem Skipper population exploded in my yard and elsewhere in the county. There were and estimated 125 on day, then 200 estimated in the yard the following day. I think the highest estimate of Sachem skippers was 300. Then mating activity was seen and the male skippers are just attaching any poor female that happens to be around trying to nectar.
