SPI ~ Shorebirds

The past 2 days have been great for getting good close looks of some of the shorebirds.  The falling tides made the area mostly mudflats with little water for the ducks to float on which is prime area for shorebirds to feed.

We were really looking forward to a great trip to Fort DeSoto as we'd been here before one November. We were disappointed to see few birds though we have a pretty good looks at the Great Horned Owl and the owlet.

 I love when the shorebirds start to arrive on Nummy Island as to me it's a sign that summer is coming.  I also really enjoy the photographic opportunities that it affords me.  Here are some of the first wave of the birds.
