Nottingham County Park ~ Butterflies'

I drove to I drove to Nottingham County Park this afternoon. It's a great place to walk but I was interested in seeing if the Great Spangled Fritillary's were around yet. I saw 5 of them today. I saw a total of 8 species of butterflies including 2 Monarch's! It's a start, though very little is blooming yet. I, actually, only stayed around the parking lot and not for long as the bugs were out & biting. this afternoon. Lancaster County Butterflies ~ Chestnut Grove Natural Area,

It's my second visit to this butterfly friendly natural area. I saw 19 species of butterflies though sad there weren't more individuals of each species flying.  Lots of trails to walk and butterflies to see though the nectar plants from my last visit have almost all died back.  I bet it's wonderful in the spring when all of the Common Milkweed is blooming.

Wolf's Hollow County Park

Had a great visit to Wolf's Hollow County Park in Chester County yesterday. 11 species of butterflies, Snowberry Clearwing, Ruby-throated hummingbird, and along the creek some dragonflies. Sadly, the park service just recently mowed down the center field as you enter the park where I saw tons of butterflies last summer. The left side of the driveway is a sea of lavender bee balm.
