Lizard Trail Swamp ~ Butterfly Hunting

I had heard that in the spring there can be some good butterfly finds at Lizard Tail Swamp before the butterflies start arriving in your yards so I thought I would go over for a walk.  I saw good numbers of butterflies including 2 life butterflies ~ Eastern Pine Elfin & Juvenal's Duskywing.  There were lots of Spring Azures and Eastern-tailed Blues flying also.

More Butterflies Cox Hall Creek

                       Orange Sulphur

Summer Azure
Several days ago I was excited to find butterflies at Cox Hall Creek WMA so since today was warm and sunny without much wind I thought I'd go back to see what I'd find.  I saw Common Buckeye (10), Orange Sulphur (9), Summer Azure, Cloudless Sulphur (2), American Lady, Painted Lady and Pearl Crescent.  At home I saw 9 species including 3 fresh Monarch's.  That's a total of 14 species for me for the day.  Pretty impressive for the beginning of November.
