Madera Canyon,AZ ~ Santa Rita Lodge ~ Elegant Trogon

The Elegant Trogon is one of those highly desirable birds for a birder to see in their lifetime.  Many birders come to Ramsey or Madera Canyons to find the bird.  I looked at the Ramsey Canyon Preserve even walking a mile up the mountain to find the bird without success.  Came to Madera Canyon only to have the Elegant Trogon singing outside my window every morning about 5:30AM.  I'd have to be really careful when opening the shades or he would fly away but he always returned within a short time.  One day he was singing outside my window in a downpour of rain.
