Falcon State Park, TX ~ Green Lynx Spider

Green Lynx Spider takes an American Snout at the Falcon State Park in TX. 10/30/22 I hate to see a butterfly taken but it was a cool spider. And, hey, everyone needs to eat.

Vail, AZ ~ Sycamore Community Park Butterflies

After watching the birds this morning, I decided I would ge to the community park to see if there were any birds or butterflies around.  I didn't see many birds but there were plenty of butterflies to be seen.  Like the rest of AZ the butterflies don't seem to set down and nectar so you can get images of them.  There were several areas of puddling noted with Ceraunus Blue, Marine Blue and Reakirt's Blue's all mixed together.  There were 10-12 species of butterflies seen.

Superior, AZ ~ Boyce Thompson Arboretum ~ Butterflies

I had so much fun at BTA that I wanted to return and explore the butterflies.  There were literally hundreds of them flying around and rarely did one perch so I could take picture.  There were Swallowtails by the bushel full with the most common known to be there are the Pipevine Swallowtail and the Two-tailed Swallowtail.  There were whites, more whites along with tons of yellows - I could ID the Checkered White along with the Sleepy Yellow and Dainty Sulphur but there were probably some Southern Dogface in with them.  Blue's were flying everywhere also.  I saw a single Common Buckeye and a Red Admiral which is said to be an infrequent butterfly to the arboretum.  Here are the few images I was able to take.

Butterflies in my backyard

How exciting that all of my hard work is paying off. Making the front new gardens plus adding the rotten fruit for nectaring and more flowers in the backyard gardens has brought in with new butterflies in my backyard. About 2 weeks ago I saw a Variegated Fritillary nectaring on some of the flowers including the Tropical Milkweed. Today the Variegated Fritillary butterflies were on my Rudibecka. In the backyard on the rotten friut was an awesome Mouring Cloak and an American Snout. I've seen Mourning Cloaks before though usually on the roads in the spring. I'd never seen an American Snout before of which I am aware. Totally awesome!
