Bloedel Reserve & Mount Rainier across Puget Sound

After a quick lunch outside we drove to Bainbridge Island to visit the Bloedel Reserve.  We had heard and read much about this garden area so decided we would visit on our way to a peony farm further up the road.  The Reserve was not really what I expected as our gardens in the East have many more flowers to see but it was interesting.  I found a Hooded Merganser with a group of her chicks. The chicks didn't seem to be very old and were out on a little island in a pond area.

As we spent more time then expected at each of the prior places we found that it was almost 3:30 and so decided not to travel on but to explore more of Bainbridge Island before taking the ferry back to Seattle.  A very wise choice.  The ferry back was a fun experience and allowed us great views of the Seattle waterfront.
